Physicians get tools to improve record keeping

PatientKeeper, Inc. is marketing software to help physicians keep better records.

The Boston-based provider of physician information systems has secured a patent for software that makes use of a PDA to automate the paper-intensive process of physician charge capture.

"Virtually every healthcare organization has challenges with paper-based billing processes. Before PatientKeeper, physicians at many of the leading healthcare institutions were literally keeping track of their charges on 3x5 index cards," said Paul W. Brient, PatientKeeper's president and CEO. Supporting any tablet or PC running a Web browser as well as Palm OS and Windows Mobile devices, PatientKeeper allows physicians to access EHRs, write prescriptions, enter charges for services, document treatments and send messages to other caregivers.
