OptumInsight CEO Eric Murphy said the company will focusing on a range of technologies at HIMSS18 from artificial intelligence to value-based care.
"Many organizations know healthcare frequently lacks the expertise to take full advantage of the potential of data and analytics," said Murphy. "Conversely, many organizations with that data and analytics expertise don't understand the unique nature of healthcare.
"We start with building a common language by integrating disparate data sources from across the health system, standardizing and linking them at a person level to create both an individual and population level view," he added. "Then we apply metrics and measures that look for patterns in quality and outcomes, consumer behavior, cost, risk and utilization, and operational performance – essentially transforming data into insights."
This is where artificial intelligence and other new capabilities come into play for the company. The analytics platforms and teams of multi-disciplinary experts – including 26,000 practicing technologists, data scientists, actuaries and clinicians – work together to develop predictive insights on what will happen in the future, enabling the company to collaborate with its customers to take the next best action toward solving evolving healthcare challenges.
"OptumIQ fuels our core capabilities in population health management, healthcare delivery, pharmacy care services and healthcare operations," Murphy said. "Our unified clinical and financial analytics platform used by care providers and our payment integrity solutions that reduce medical and administrative costs and the cohesive risk and quality management tools used by health plans are just a few examples."
At HIMSS18, OptumInsight executives will focus on the topics and trends that are top-of-mind for its customers: succeeding in value-based care, improving patient outcomes and quality, optimizing revenue cycle performance and enhancing technology and infrastructure for the government sector.
"We also are excited to have the Advisory Board joining us in our booth and share how their talent will help serve our clients even more effectively," Murphy added. "Advisory Board research experts will be conducting in-booth presentations on a variety of industry topics each day of the conference."
Murphy said that the company is passionate about the impact of data and analytics in healthcare, and by unearthing insights from vast amounts of data, the company can help clients make better decisions and discover new solutions to some of the industry's biggest challenges, fulfill the company's mission of helping people live healthier lives and making the healthcare system work better for everyone.
OptumInsight will be in Booth 6425.
