A $270 million, 12-story hospital will open on 135 acres in central Florida this week.
The 718,000-square-foot Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center will double the size of the existing Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial, according to hospital spokeswoman Michelle Lynch.
The new hospital will have 277 beds, with a capacity for 350 beds. Its new emergency center will be double the size of the old one, and its BirthCare Center will have 32 beds, up from 13.
Lynch said the 205-bed Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial will close; the 330,000-square-foot facility is currently for sale.
