Purdue REC awards SA Ignite meaningful use contractAugust 1, 2012 | Healthcare Finance News Staff
SA Ignite, Inc., a provider of software solutions that streamline and automate the “last mile” to reaching Meaningful Use (MU) of electronic health records, and the Purdue Regional Extension Center today announced a strategic partnership.
The Purdue Regional Extension Center, a division of Purdue Healthcare Advisors (PHA) at Purdue University, will utilize SA Ignite’s MU Assistant®, dubbed the EHR Meaningful Use “TurboTax® equivalent” for its ability to automate clients’ MU reporting and achieve one-click electronic attestation to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
“We’re delighted Purdue Healthcare Advisors has chosen SA Ignite, as PHA offers experienced healthcare consultants housed in a world-class academic institution,” said Tom Lee, SA Ignite CEO and Founder. “Purdue Healthcare Advisors is making tremendous progress toward maximizing the performance of healthcare information technology, and we look forward to working closely with PHA to support its continued success and to be true partners as its business model evolves.”
Lee added that SA Ignite is building a nucleus of academic extension centers. Of the 62 regional extension centers, approximately one-quarter are affiliated with universities, two of which are SA Ignite partners and together serve more than 4,000 providers.
MU Assistant, a cloud-based software solution, automatically aggregates and monitors MU measures, across multiple EHR systems, and provides decision support tools such as enabling easy selection of 90-day windows (for Medicare Payment Year 1) and suggesting MU exclusions that providers may claim. The MU Assistant then electronically files providers’ data to the Medicare attestation web site, providing a one-click attestation process, and electronically archives supporting data for potential audits.
“MU Assistant will greatly simplify an otherwise cumbersome process, and this directly mirrors the impetus of the REC program: to eliminate paper and static, decentralized data by leveraging technology,” said Randy Hountz, MBA, director of PHA’s Purdue Regional Extension Center. “The ability to use a single, best-in-class EHR dashboard to manage our provider base will enable our experts to spend time practicing at the top end of their skill sets, and this materially magnifies the value we are able to add to the practices we serve.”
Specifically, PHA will utilize MU Assistant to work toward the following goals:
• M3 acceleration – SA Ignite’s solution will help providers achieve Meaningful Use more quickly.
• Sustainability – As PHA works with provider organizations outside its base, MU Assistant will serve as a competitive differentiator that attracts and retains new clients.
• Analytics – MU Assistant provides the ability to access data across Purdue Healthcare Advisors’ entire provider base, which PHA will use to systematically assist providers in improving outcomes.
