Picis adds to list of hospital systems using LYNX E/Point to improve compliance, charging

WAKEFIELD, MA – Picis today announced that during the last two quarters six large Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs) have selected the Picis LYNX E/Point healthcare revenue management solution to promote consistent and compliant outpatient charging of emergency department (ED) patient encounters in a total of 64 healthcare facilities.

LYNX E/Point is an easily-deployable, SaaS model solution designed to calculate accurate and defensible facility visit-level charges for ED patients based on patient acuity and services rendered. This easy-to-use tool standardizes and streamlines ED charging at one or many sites with a proven algorithm that can improve hospital compliance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements, while also preserving ED revenue and providing financial predictability of charges for emergency care.

A sampling of recent IDNs selecting Picis LYNX E/Point include:

Texas Health Resources (THR) — THR is one of the largest faith-based, nonprofit health care delivery systems in the United States, serving more than 6.2 million people in Northern Texas. THR selected LYNX E/Point and its new Epic-to-E/Point interface to easily integrate the E/Point algorithm with information entered in Epic software for leveling of patients based upon a patient’s presenting problem, equipment or resource use, nursing and ancillary time and other criteria. This easy-to-deploy interface, resulting from collaboration between Sentara Healthcare and LYNX Medical Systems, enables hospitals using Epic software to leverage the financial gains derived from using E/Point emergency department revenue management solutions. Fielding nearly 526,000 ED patients annually, Texas Health estimates these improvements not only will contribute to increased net revenue, but also overall consistency and compliance in facility charge capture.

Bon Secours Health System — This nonprofit Catholic health system headquartered in Marriottsville, Maryland, spans seven states and includes 18 acute-care hospitals primarily on the East Coast. Bon Secours Health System, an existing LYNX customer, is adding Picis LYNX E/Point facility charging to seven hospitals to provide improved accuracy of documentation and charging of emergency services..

Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) — Based in Springfield, Illinois, this multi-institutional health system consists of 13 hospitals in 12 communities across Illinois and Wisconsin. HSHS utilizes the latest information technology (IT) to standardize data and processes and provide integrated healthcare services across its network. A key part of its standardization strategy, HSHS is implementing LYNX E/Point in all of its 13 hospitals improve compliance and revenue retention for its 325,000 ED patients each year.
In addition, CHRISTUS Health, one of the top 10 Catholic health systems in the United States, continues its widespread implementation of LYNX E/Point in 22 hospitals where it is applying this standardized charging methodology to an estimated 670,000 annual ED visits each year.

“Hospitals across the country face increased pressure to improve healthcare services while managing the business of healthcare. LYNX E/Point healthcare revenue management helps hospitals align with CMS regulations for charging, and provides consistency across facilities thereby enabling improved financial performance in the ED. This allows health systems to justify the IT investment and redirect revenue to other programs that promote excellence in delivery of care,” said Todd Cozzens, CEO and Vice Chairman, Picis.

Automating more than 30 million patient visits annually in more than 700 hospitals throughout North America, Picis emergency department applications provide integrated clinical information and financial management tools for improving hospital operations and increasing patient satisfaction in the ED.
