NEW YORK – Morgan Joseph & Co. Inc. has appointed Mitchell S. Stern as a Managing Director in its Healthcare Investment Banking Group, where he will cover the medical device and healthcare IT sectors.

A 20-year Wall Street veteran, Mr. Stern has for the past 15 years covered middle market companies in the healthcare industry. “Mitch is a welcome addition to our healthcare group and expands our presence in the devices and IT sectors, two important verticals for our group,” said Marc Cabrera, Head of Healthcare Investment Banking at Morgan Joseph. “He has terrific sector knowledge and a strong track record in private financings and M&A and is joining us at a time when our group is at its busiest this year.”

Prior to joining Morgan Joseph, Mr. Stern was a Managing Director and Head of Healthcare & Life Sciences investment banking for SMH Capital Inc., as well as Managing Director and Head of Healthcare & Life Sciences at Glocap Advisors LLC, where he formed their healthcare investment banking group. He previously held positions with Needham & Co., Schroder & Co. Inc. (Wertheim Schroder), Salomon Brothers and Deloitte & Touche in their M&A department.

Mr. Stern holds an MBA in Finance from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business and a BA degree from Franklin & Marshall College. Mr. Stern, a CPA, was employed for two years as a Senior Accountant at Ernst & Whinney.

Morgan Joseph & Co. Inc., a full service investment bank, provides financial advisory and capital raising services including M&A and restructuring advice, and equity and debt private placements and public offerings. In addition, Morgan Joseph provides research and trading for institutional clients. Morgan Joseph’s staff of over 130 includes more than 70 investment bankers, who are highly experienced professionals mostly from major Wall Street firms and intimately familiar with the issues facing middle market companies.
