FRANKLIN, TN – The Medical Banking Project announced a new working relationship with a student team at Carnegie Mellon University that will produce the 3rd issue of The International Journal of Medical Banking, the organization's premier academic publication. The Journal is routinely featured at MBProject’s annual industry institutes.

The next Institute is scheduled for April 7-9, 2010 in Nashville, Tenn.

Maureen Turo, Vice President of Healthcare at the The Bank of New York Mellon, who serves as President of the Medical Banking Institute arranged an introduction of MBProject to the healthcare policy area at Carnegie Mellon University.

“The journal is documenting the advancement of medical banking as an industry segment and doing this with students makes this annual task fun,” said Turo. MBProject will oversee production of the Journal and work directly with the leadership and student team at Carnegie.

“As part of our educational program we seek to interact with industry groups like The Medical Banking Project to expose our students to issues that are part of the policy dialogue in healthcare,” said David Dausey, Sr. Director Health Programs/Initiatives at Carnegie Mellon University. “We’re excited to be part of this project and it offers a good learning experience for our students.”

“A key goal of MBProject is to facilitate the creation of new centers of medical banking excellence to enhance research and to prepare the next generation of workers in this new segment,” said John Casillas, Founding Director of the Medical Banking Project. “We are working with key universities to make this happen.”

Universities that are members of MBProject include Vanderbilt University’s Center for Better Health, the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, University of Missouri’s Department of Healthcare Informatics, California Lutheran University and the Health Systems Institute at Georgia Tech.
