NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA – IPC The Hospitalist Company, Inc., a national hospitalist physician group practice company, announced today that it has acquired North Florida Acute Care Specialists, LLC., headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida. The practice represents an annualized volume of approximately 62,000 patient encounters. The acquisition of NFACS represents a further expansion for IPC in the Jacksonville market where the Company already has a well-established presence.

R. Jeffrey Taylor, president and COO of IPC The Hospitalist Company, stated, "We are pleased that NFACS has selected IPC as its practice partner to achieve its growth goals with both facilities and key payers in the Jacksonville metro area. This is IPC's third acquisition in Florida this month, where local independent practices are seeking the resources, stability, and growth opportunities that our company offers."

NFACS co-founders, Mohammad Touheed, M.D. and Ismael Rodriguez, M.D., will remain with the group under IPC as Practice Group Leaders. Dr. Touheed commented, "The capabilities available to us from IPC will undoubtedly prove valuable not only to our providers, but also to the diverse mix of client payers and facilities that we serve. IPC's highly developed infrastructure and practice management programs will enable us to align with the facilities' goals much more effectively than we could do on our own."
