MedAssets, based in Atlanta, has renewed and expanded its spend management agreement with Scripps Health, a San Diego-based integrated healthcare delivery network. Under the agreement, MedAssets will now help Scripps Health as it transitions its pharmacy services in-house. In addition, the company has launched Service Line Analytics, an on-demand business intelligence solution designed to identify and drive sustainable financial improvement in the management of high-cost medical devices, supplies, pharmaceuticals, ancillary services, length of stay and other key hospital drivers.

HealthEdge, a Burlington, Mass.-based provider of software service for healthcare payers, has announced a partnership with Durham, N.C.-based Bloodhound Technologies to integrate Bloodhound’s ConVergence Point claims editing and business transparency tools with HealthEdge’s HealthRules claims administration product suite.

The Premier healthcare alliance, based in San Diego, has selected Redwood City, Calif.-based AeroScout as the sole provider of RFID asset tracking and management solutions for Premier’s ASCEND program. Also, Premier Insurance Management Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Premier, has introduced a Clinical Risk Management (CRM) assessment program designed to evaluate performance and collaboration across the risk management, safety and quality functions in hospitals and healthcare systems.

Companion Global Healthcare, a Columbia, S.C.-based facilitator of medical travel solutions, has added Centro Medico Teknon in Barcelona, Spain, to its list of healthcare options.

Practice Fusion, Inc., based in San Francisco, has announced that it will guarantee that physicians using the Practice Fusion EHR will qualify for the ‘meaningful use’ definition in the HITECH Act, thus qualifying for federal stimulus payments beginning in 2011.

MedQuist, Inc., based in Mount Laurel, N.J., has been awarded a contract for Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) consulting services and software by Doylestown Hospital in Doylestown, Pa.

Cabinet NG, a Huntsville, Ala.-based provider of document management and workflow software, has added its CNG-SAFE shared access filing environment to QuickBooks.

Allscripts-Misys Healthcare Solutions of Chicago has announced that Baptists Memorial Health Care has selected the Allscripts Electronic Health Record and Practice Management solution for its 65 employed physicians and more than 3,100 independent physicians affiliated with the system’s 15 hospitals in Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi. In addition, the West Penn Allegheny Health System of Pittsburgh has named Allscripts as its provider of clinical IT solutions across its network of hospitals and owned physician practices. Also, the company has announced that Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, N.C., will implement the Allscripts suite of care management solutions to streamline care and prepare for Medicare’s RAC program.

BancTec, Inc., a Dallas-based developer of document, content and payment processing solutions and services, has signed a distribution agreement with the Dubai-based eDoc Solutions Corporation to sell BancTec solutions in Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries.
