Vendor Notebook: MedAptus joins with Jordan Physician Associates to capture charges

MedAptus, based in Boston, has announced that physicians with Jordan Physician Associates of Plymouth, Mass., are using the MedAptus Inpatient Edition to capture and submit professional charges while on service at Jordan Hospital.

eClinicalWorks, based in Westborough, Mass., has announced that North Carolina’s Sandhills Physicians, Inc., has selected the company’s unified electronic medical record and practice management software for its member physicians and has purchased 150 licenses. The company has also introduced an option of on-demand deployment for its EMR/PM system and complimentary solutions, including Patient Portal, Enterprise Business Optimizer, P2P, eClinicalMobile and eClinicalMessenger.

Emporos, based in Charlotte, N.C., has unveiled e2, an SaaS-supported point-of-sale (POS) solution that can be used in outpatient pharmacies, gift shops, cafeterias and other healthcare-related retail locations to integrate with financial systems and pharmacy management systems.

Lawson Software of St. Paul, Minn., has announced that the Cancer Treatment Centers of America has implemented several software suites, including Lawson Enterprise Financial Management and Supply Chain Management, as well as Lawson Business Intelligence.

Emdeon, Inc., has announced a collaboration with Medicity to integrate Emdeon’s national network of payers, providers and pharmacies with Medicity’s clinical exchange network, based on the iNexx Health 4.0 platform, to create a “converged” national health information exchange.

MedAssets, based in Atlanta, has launched the MedAssets Construction Services program in partnership with e-Builder. The Web-based program is designed to help healthcare providers plan and manage construction projects.

FrontStream Payments, Inc., a Nashville-based provider of payment solutions, has acquired Fast Transact, Inc., an Olympia, Wash.-based provider of payment processing solutions for e-commerce and physician points of sale.

Francisco Partners, a San Francisco-based private equity firm focused on technology, has completed its acquisition of the QuadraMed Corporation, a Reston, Va.-based healthcare IT company.

Alpha II, an Atlanta-based developer of coding, compliance and reimbursement solutions, has announced the availability of the You’reNext application, which integrates as a portal on a practice’s Web site to facilitate patient registration and requests. The company has also announced a contract with MedAppz to integrate Alpha II’s CodeWizard software with iSuite, allowing iSuite users to generate evaluation and management (E&M) codes.

Novation, an Irving, Texas-based healthcare supply contracting company for VHA, Inc., the University HealthSystem Consortium and Provista LLC, has launched a new Best Price Commodities Portfolio, designed to help members lower their supply spending on commonly used medical and surgical products.

The Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC), based in Chicago, has unveiled CareProfile, an electronic health record created with input from MEDecision, Availity and Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in Illinois, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas that includes, among other things, a health status measure to help physicians identify situations such as clinical gaps in recommended care services, missed prescription refills and possible drug-to-drug interactions.

Hercules Technology Growth Capital, Inc., a Palo Alto, Calif.-based specialty finance company providing venture debt and equity to venture capital and private equity-backed technology and life science companies, has committed to provide approximately $15.7 million in growth capital financing to an undisclosed California-based healthcare provider focusing on children’s health.

GE Capital, Healthcare Financial Services has provided $31.5 million as part of a $145 million senior secured credit facility for Harden Healthcare, LLC, an Austin, Texas-based provider of home healthcare services and manager of skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. The money will be used to provide additional growth capital and refinance existing debt facilities.

EXTENSION has announced that its AHA-endorsed HealthID patient smart card functionality is now integrated with Cisco Unified Communication technologies.

PayFlex Systems USA, based in Omaha, Neb., has launched a new health savings accounts platform.

Halogen, an Ottawa-based developer of talent management solutions, has announced that its eAppraisal Healthcare suite has been named a “solution of choice” for the Ontario Hospital Association’s member hospitals.

Ingenix, based in Eden Prairie, Minn., has announced a partnership with the American Medical Association through which the company’s CareTracker electronic health records system will be offered through the AMA’ new online health information solutions platform for physicians.

Vangent, an Arlington, Va.-based provider of information management and strategic business process services, has announced a partnership with the Medsphere Systems Corporation, a San Diego-based provider of open-source healthcare enterprise solutions.

The Intellisoft Group of Nashua, N.H., has unveiled IntelliCred Renaissance, an automated medical credentialing software package designed to allow healthcare providers to manage credentialing and privileging programs.

CXtec, a Syracuse-based provider of data networking and voice equipment, has launched LIFECYCLExpress, an IT asset recovery program.

TELUS Health Solutions of Montreal has announced that the Medical University of South Carolina, in Charleston, S.C., will deploy the care continuity module of the company’s Oacis data aggregation solution, designed to create a portable care record, or “discharge summary,” for patients.

Quest Healthcare of Aliso Viejo, Calif., and HealthCast, Inc., of Boise, Idaho, have announced the integration of Quest’s vWorkspace virtual desktop management solution with HealthCast’s eXactACCESS single sign-on and clinical workflow solution to secure access to electronic health, order entry and clinical documentation systems.

Health Language, Inc., has launched the Language Engine Access Portal (LEAP), which enables Web access to medical terminologies, code sets and management tools.

Medical Connections Holdings, Inc., a Boca Raton, Fla.-based healthcare staffing company specializing in allied health, nurse and physician staffing and recruiting services, has entered into a stock purchase agreement to acquire all of the issued and outstanding capital stock of Trustaff Management, Inc., an Ohio-based national healthcare staffing company.

HTH Worldwide, a Radnor, Pa.-based health and safety services company, has signed an agreement with UK-based ALC Health that will give ALC members access to HTH’s contracted community of doctors and hospitals in 180 countries, as well as HTH’s mobile and online medical assistance tools.

L-1 Identity Solutions, Inc., is providing a new Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) to enhance the security of health and welfare programs administered by the Connecticut Department of Social Services.

First American Vendor Finance, which works with healthcare equipment manufacturers, distributors, dealers and value-added resellers to provide financing tools to meet the needs of their end-user customers, has established a vendor finance business in Chicago.

Picis, Inc., based in Wakefield, Mass., has announced that UMass Memorial Health Care has selected Picis CareSuite perioperative and anesthesia solutions for more than 60 operating rooms in five hospitals in central and western Massachusetts.  The technology is designed to deliver clinical and financial information more quickly and accurately across the healthcare system.

Attunity Ltd., a Burlington, Mass.-based provider of real-time data integration and event capture software, has announced that the New York Life Insurance Taiwan Corporation has adopted the company’s real-time operational data replication (ODR) software and low-impact CDC technology.

The WebMD Health Corporation, based in New York, has increased the price of its pending tender offer for the company’s common stock to $46.80 per share. The company hopes to purchase 5.8 million shares, or 11 percent of its current outstanding shares, by the deadline of 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 8.

Wolters Kluwer Health, based in Philadelphia, has announced that Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, Pa., has selected the company’s ProVation MD software for gastroenterology procedure documentation and coding.

NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, based in Horsham, Pa., has announced that the Wayne State University Physician Group in southeast Michigan to deploy NextGen Practice Solutions for its 540 practicing physicians. The software suite is designed to help physician practices increase collections, reduce A/R days and improve efficiency in billing, scheduling and reporting.

The Informatics Corporation of America, based in Nashville, has announced that Meridian Health, a network of five not-for-profit hospitals and affiliated healthcare companies and providers in central and southern New Jersey, will deploy the company’s CareAlign solution.

Carestream Health, Inc., based in Rochester, N.Y., has announced that members of  the Mid-Atlantic Group Network of Shared Services (MAGNET), a large healthcare group purchasing organization, can now purchase Carestream DRX-1, DRX-Evolution and RIS/PACS solutions through a new group purchasing agreement for imaging workflow solutions. The company has also launched its new Carestream Image Suite, a CR/mini-PACS solution designed to meet the imaging needs and budgets of clinics and physician offices.

Ontario Systems, a Muncie, Ind.-based provider of accounts receivable and revenue cycle management solutions for collection and healthcare industries, is partnering with State Collection Service, Inc., in Madison, Wis., to deploy Ontario’s Artiva Healthcare 5.0 platform to help expand State’s extended business office (EBO) line and revenue cycle outsourcing business.

OB10, an Atlanta-based provider of e-invoicing services, is joining forces with Taulia, Inc., which offers “invoicement” services, to create a purchase-to-pay solution that integrates with SAP.

The SCIOinspire Corp., a Hartford, Conn.-based provider of business process solutions for health plans and hospitals, has announced an alliance with Renalogic LLC, a care management firm specializing in chronic kidney disease programs, to allow Renalogic to deploy the SCIOinspire PRO-Series software suite to support the development of effective care programs for CKD populations.

Compliance 360, an Atlanta-based provider of enterprise governance, risk and compliance (GRC) solutions, has expanded its solution footprint with the addition of a new, integrated Third Party Risk Management solution.

MediRegs, based in Riverwoods, Ill., has announced that its ComplyTrack Audit Detail Manager solutions has been approved by the American Hospital Association as a RACTrac-compatible product.

McKesson, based in Atlanta, has announced that the following physician practices have signed contracts to deploy Practice Partner electronic health record and practice management solutions: Consultants in Gastroenterology in Providence, R.I., the Virginia Nephrology Group and the Paradigm Medical Group of Colorado Springs, Colo.

CapitalSource, based in Chevy Chase, Md., is providing a $71 million senior loan to Tri-City Medical Center, a 397-bed acute-care hospital serving the north coastal San Diego region of California. The hospital, owned by the Tri-City Healthcare District, will use the loan, consisting of a $51 million secured term loan and $20 million revolving line of credit, to repay high-interest auction rate securities debt.

ClaimTrust, a Murfreesboro, Tenn.-based provider of revenue cycle tools and services for hospitals, has opened a Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) resource center.

The HealthTrust Purchasing Group, a Brentwood, Tenn.-based group purchasing organization, has signed two contracts with EHOB, Inc., an Indianapolis-based provider of products designed to prevent and treat pressure ulcers, for the company’s WAFFLE-brand products for nine healthcare facilities throughout the country.
