ATLANTA – Healthcare providers looking to launch construction projects during these uncertain financial times will have a new tool at their disposal to make sure brick and mortar issues don’t affect the healthcare delivery process.
MedAssets, an Atlanta-based developer of spend management and revenue cycle solutions for providers and group purchasing organizations, has announced a partnership with e-Builder to create the MedAssets Construction Services program. The Web-based program is designed to enable hospitals and other health systems to better manage construction projects from the planning stages through completion.
“Our new construction program combines MedAssets' consultative, collaborative approach, a value-driven sourcing process and state-of-the-art technology from e-Builder,” said Rand Ballard, MedAssets' chief operating officer and chief customer officer. “MedAssets' customers will benefit from savings, visibility throughout the process and the ability to leverage consistency for future projects and expansion.”
Using the platform from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based e-Builder, the MedAssets program leverages business process automation, cost control, scheduling, document management and reporting tools as well as MedAssets’ GPO network. The program will offer building planning services including architectural, planning, construction management, data center design and interior design services; building raw materials; building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire and life safety systems and medical gas systems; and building interiors, including artwork, furniture and paint.

According to MedAssets officials, the program will enable providers to increase front-end savings on unit pricing and generate lifecycle savings from contract pricing on proprietary systems. In addition, the program will help providers engage the right contractors and sub-contractors throughout the process and make use of MedAssets’ GPO connections to reduce equipment and services costs.
