LAGRANGE, GA – The West Georgia Health System and Perot Systems have signed a deal for revenue cycle management technology and services for the health system's facilities in western Georgia and eastern Alabama.

The agreement is designed to enable the LaGrange, Ga.-based system to use technology from Plano, Texas-based Perot Systems to lower its revenue cycle administrative costs and improve its billing and reimbursement processes.

"We anticipate our business will be strengthened through improvements in cash collection and cash flow," said Paul Perrotti, the health system's chief financial officer. "Additionally, we expect the relationship will help us refine the patient registration process and improve patient satisfaction."

The seven-year agreement covers services for patient access and business office functions. Most recently, Perot Systems provided WGHS with revenue cycle and information technology support services to help it implement a healthcare information systems platform, MEDITECH 6.0.

By adding revenue cycle expertise and using the MEDITECH-enabled Centralized Business Office, Perrotti said the health system would have access to enhanced software and process tools to enable efficiency improvements in the hospital business office, which could drive increases in cash collections for WGHS.

West Georgia Health System is a 276-bed not-for-profit facility. In 1985, the U.S. Health Care Financing Administration designated West Georgia Medical Center as a rural referral center, one of only 211 such centers throughout the nation.
