LAKELAND, FL – Lakeland Regional Medical Center, an 851-bed facility based in Lakeland, Fla., is adding time and attendance and remote hosting technology in an attempt to increase operational efficiencies.
Mary Carroll Ford, vice president and chief information officer at Lakeland Regional, said the medical center has signed a deal with API Healthcare, a Hartford, Wis.-based vendor of human capital management systems.
"We knew it was important to find a more effective way to manage payroll-related processes," says Mary Carroll Ford, vice president and chief information officer for Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She said the new technology would enable nursing managers to spend less time on administrative tasks and more time addressing patient needs, while the remote hosting and managed services would free up IT staff to focus their efforts on strategic, enterprise-wide initiatives.
Ford said the new time and attendance software would support the consistent application of complex pay information across the organization. Lakeland Regional wants its managers and administrators to monitor and analyze data throughout pay periods for more proactive control of labor costs.
J.P. Fingado, president and chief executive officer of API Healthcare, said remote hosting solutions allow hospitals and health systems to bypass the initial capital investment in servers and related hardware as well as the expense of updating that equipment over time.
